Common Name Kunstler's Phalaenopsis [Orchid Collector in Malaysia 1800's]

Flower Size 1.4 to 1.6" [3.5 to 4 cm]

Found in Malaysia and Myanmar in humid lowland forests at elevations of 300 to 1800 meters as a medium sized, hot to cool growing epiphyte with 2 to 4 leaves that blooms in the spring and summer on a suberect to arching, arching, paniculate to seldon branched, slowly elongating to 16" [to 40 cm] long, 2 to 3 at a time, few to several flowered inflorescence.

The flower can be somewhat fragrant at night or have no fragrance.

Very similar to P fuscata but differs in the short, squat column that is constricted at the middle.
