Caryota Ophiopellis and Zebrina

Do you prefer one of them?

For me, I would have both in Doranakanda gardens, they seem to be not so big like C. obtusa which I planted and may regret I did !

Ophiopellis is the faster and showier of the two.  The Zebrina stripes are definitely not as visible but the leaves are more beautiful/interesting -- it's glossy and very leathery.

Ophiopellis though seems to have a "sudden death syndrome".  All appears fine then suddenly the leaves turn brown and then it is dead in a month.  I can never figure out what went wrong.  I have lost about a dozen plants that way.
