Colchester High Street Jumbo view
At one time, for a few months, I lived on North Hill and worked on Queen Street, so the High Street was my walk to work. Walking back, I was always struck by how Jumbo (the Victorian water tower) looms up behind the buildings. I know it is redundant now, with discussions ongoing about its future, but it is truly a Colchester icon, and beautifully familiar. I went up it once when it was a ‘prayer tower’, that little room at the top is very small, but the view is superb.
