Description:
   Cymbopogon, better known as lemongrass, is a genus of Asian,  African,  Australian, and tropical island plants in the grass family.

Some species (particularly Cymbopogon citratus) are commonly cultivated as culinary and medicinal herbs because of their scent, resembling that of lemons (Citrus limon). Common names include lemon grass, lemongrass, barbed wire grass, silky heads, citronella grass, cha de Dartigalongue, fever grass, tanglad, hierba Luisa, or gavati chahapati, amongst many others.

Medicinal uses:  The leaves of Cymbopogon citratus have been used in traditional medicine and are often found in herbal supplements and teas.In the folk medicine of Brazil, it is believed to have anxiolytic, hypnotic, and anticonvulsant properties.

In traditional medicine of India the leaves of the plant are used as stimulant, sudorific, antiperiodic, and anticatarrhal, while the essential oil is used as carminative ,depressant ,analgesic ,antipyretic, antibacterial, and antifungal agent.
