A beautiful, medium-sized ginger with leafy shoots with narrowly elliptic leaves and short, basal inflorescences with large, red flowers, followed by bright red, spindle-shaped, edible fruits. Aframomum daniellii is native to the undergrowth of tropical rainforests from southeastern Nigeria to southwestern Kenya and Angola. In cultivation it does best in tropical climates.
