An attractive semi-evergreen or deciduous tree that can reach to 18 m tall. It grows a dense crown with spreading branches that hold smallish leaves and pink flowers followed by attractive, large, yellow, fruits that are intensely and pleasantly fragrant but hard and nearly inedible when raw. They can be used for making jam, however. Pseudocydonia sinensis is native to central and southern China. It is a popular ornamental for temperate climates in USDA Zones 6 and above.
