Description

A plant reputedly common in its native Kashmir, but as rare as hen’s teeth in cultivation.

Thin, thread-like, leaves and small bulbs, which are inclined to split, so that heavy feeding is best to get the offsets up to size – however the flower heads are worth any effort. The intensity of the colour is hard to portray adequately, but it is very rich and sumptuous. They are stunning, deep, rich rose-red with a hint of blood red. Each petal has a deep red midvein.

Fertile, sunny soil with good drainage, with a long, dry, summer rest. Naturally small.
