Description

In Galanthus gracilis both the plant and the flowers are smaller than most species. The flowers are notably rounded in the bud with broad, pure white, outer segments whilst the inner petals are marked, top and bottom, with mid green.

The form Yamanlar offered here is not a hybrid, but it is a strong-growing, selected form of the true species Galanthus gracilis and it is an excellent and distinctive garden plant. It displays the glaucous leaves characteristic of the species.  As with all forms, these are usually narrower than most other snowdrops but they can, exceptionally,  reach 1.5 cm wide. The leaves of Yamanlar retain the characteristic twist of gracilis, however they are more upright than most forms and they are both tidy and well-behaved, in contrast to the more floppy, recumbent leaves of many other forms of G. gracilis.

It has a very distinctive flower with its twin-marks and characteristically flared inner segments. A strong scent further adds to the appeal.

A place in the garden is best, as this is a strong-growing strain selected for good growth, it doesn’t need to be tortured in a pot!
