Nepal from Terai to 1450m, in Sal
forest and tropical evergreen forest.

Tree nature It is a medium sized evergreen tree

slope facing southwest

Associates It is commonly found in Sal forest
Uses
 Wood is used for agriculture and implements. It
weighs about 600kg/m^3.
 One of the most important fodder trees. Leaves
contains 14 to 17% crude protein.
 The leaves are used as a tropical medicine for the
treatment of arthritis.
 The seeds contains about 30% oil which is used for
industrial purposes.
 The wood is used for furniture. It is used as medang,
eg. For planks and tool handles.

1700m.it is a small to medium tree which is
deciduous for a short time in the year.

Tree nature It is a tree with a flat, spreading, umbrella-like
crown. It can grow 3-10m tall
Soil pH It can grow on a wide range of soil type

Associates It is found in Schima -Castanopsis, as well as
Sal forest
Uses
 Leaves are used as an excellent fodders. Leaves
contain 11.89% crude protein.
 The bark yields a fibre used in making ropes.
 It bears edible fruit- a pleasant, sweet-sour flavour
somewhat like gooseberries.
 The immature fruit is used to treat constipation.
 The juice of the roots is applied to treat headaches,
and is also recommended for fevers and menstrual
disorders.

  • 3. Local name : Kutmiro Family : Lauraceae Natural occurrence: It occurs in Nepal from Terai to 1450m, in Sal forest and tropical evergreen forest. Litsea monopetala (210014141Sal)

  • 5. Uses  Wood is used for agriculture and implements. It weighs about 600kg/m^3.  One of the most important fodder trees. Leaves contains 14 to 17% crude protein.  The leaves are used as a tropical medicine for the treatment of arthritis.  The seeds contains about 30% oil which is used for industrial purposes.  The wood is used for furniture. It is used as medang, eg. For planks and tool handles.
  • 7. Ficus cunia/Ficus semicordata (313314341Schima,Castanopsis,Sal)  Local name: Khanyu  English name: Fig  Family: Moraceae  Natural occurrence: It occurs from Terai to 1700m.it is a small to medium tree which is deciduous for a short time in the year.

  • 9. Uses  Leaves are used as an excellent fodders. Leaves contain 11.89% crude protein.  The bark yields a fibre used in making ropes.  It bears edible fruit- a pleasant, sweet-sour flavour somewhat like gooseberries.  The immature fruit is used to treat constipation.  The juice of the roots is applied to treat headaches, and is also recommended for fevers and menstrual disorders.
