Tools Needed

To apply Chlorothalonil DF Fungicide, a professional skid sprayer, sprinkler system, air assisted spray equipment, chemigation equipment, and various types of irrigation equipment can be used.

How to Use

professional skid sprayer

  • Step 1: Determine how much Chlorothalonil DF you will need by first calculating the acreage of the area you wish to treat. To do this, you will first need to get the square footage by measuring (in feet) and multiplying the area length times width (length x width = square footage). Once you have the square footage, divide by 43,560 to get acres (square footage /43,560 = Acreage). The general rate for using Chlorothalonil is 1 to 2.5 lbs. in 100 gallons of water per acre. So if you measured 3 acres to treat, you will need to mix 3 to 7.5 lbs. of product in 300 gallons of water. Applications rates vary depending on the disease and where you are applying.
  • Step 2: Fill your spray tank with half the amount of water needed and then add the appropriate amount of Chlorothalonil DF based on your calculations. Add the remaining half of water and then agitate well to ensure the product is sufficiently mixed
  • Step 3: Keep the agitator process running while making applications. Be sure to make even and thorough applications. Re-treatment applications depend on disease being controlled and the vegetation being treated.

Special Considerations

  1. Q:HOW MUCH DO I MIX PER GALLON OF WATER AS A PREVENTATIVE AND AS CURATIVE FOR LEAF SPOT ON CHERRY TREES?
    4/14/23
A:Apply 0.9-1.25 lbs. of Chlorothalonil DF Fungicide per 100 gallons of water to control and prevent leaf spot on sweet cherry trees and tart cherry trees. For control of Cherry leaf spot after harvest, make one application to foliage within 7 days after fruit is removed. In orchards with a history of high leaf spot incidence, make a second application 10 to 14 days later.

  2. Q:Is Chlorothalonil systemic or contact?
    6/13/20
A:Contact. Info pack that comes with it explains a lot but it's geared to large application in agriculture and nurseries. Call the manufacturer for more detail on rates and plants.

  6. Q:I have some brown areas on my Empire zoysia. I'm not sure if it is brown patch or Pythium. Will this work to fix the problem for both brown patch and Pythium? If so, how much do I use per gallon? Thanks.
    11/29/19
A:Thank you for asking. Chlorothalonil DF Fungicide is labeled for use on Brown Patch, but not for pythium blight. Unfortunately, pythium blight can be mistaken as brown patch as it is similar in resemblance. Pythium blight will have a greasy look to it.

A:I called manufacture to find out the mix rate for my spruce trees . They came up with 3.5 oz. To 5oz. Per gal. Also my research showed it needs to be applied in the spring as the needles start to grow.
