1965 Morris Mini Cooper Mk. I (998cc) Transmission: manualMileage:40798This superb and largely original Morris Mini Cooper is a one owner from new example. Purchased by the vendor as a 21st birthday present to himself on 9th June 1965 through dealer, Wadhams Holdings Limited of Chichester, where he was completing an apprenticeship at the time. The vendor chose to collect the Mini directly from the Longbridge factory production line and subsequently drove the car back to Wadhams on trade plates. With the help of Wadhams he immediately set about completing some modifications to the car which included fitting wheel arches all round and changing the colour from Tweed Grey to the Opalescent Silver Blue it wears today.Since then, the Mini has resided with the vendor at his West Sussex home covering a mere 40,798 miles from new. Dry stored for the past 33 years, this Mini is in very good and largely original condition. It has never been restored but maintained and recommissioned where necessary and as such it is showing some light patina. The paintwork is good, and the original interior has survived very well indeed. On our inspection the Cooper fired up on first turn and sounded fantastic.Fitted with its original and rare Cosmic alloy wheels, matching numbers engine and gearbox, and its original registration number 'GBP 777C'. The history file that accompanies the car includes the original sales invoice from Wadhams Holdings Limited, many old MoT test certificates including the most recent undertaken in 2017, old tax discs, various sundry bills, the original buff logbook, original workshop manual and drivers handbook, original service booklet with stamps, the vendors hand written vehicle maintenance log, current V5C registration document, and the Heritage Certificate confirming its original specification. This wonderful Mini Cooper Mk. I, complete with its excellent history is a real time warp example and offers a one off opportunity for Mini enthusiasts and collectors alike. Offered at a very sensible reserve due to the vendors advancing years, we are sure this British classic will be keenly contested at auction.
1960 Austin Healey Sprite Mk. I 'Frogeye' Transmission: manualMileage:59351The 1958 Austin Healey Sprite was announced to the motoring press in Monte Carlo on 20th May 1958 and just prior to the Monaco Grand Prix. Designed by the Donald Healey Motor Company, the car came under the BMC umbrella with production being carried out at the MG works at Abingdon in Oxfordshire. Its specifications were basic being without exterior door handles; the driver and passenger were required to reach inside to open the door and access to the spare wheel and luggage compartment was achieved by tilting the seat-backs forward and reaching under the rear deck. This cost cutting exercise kept the price down to £669. Power was supplied by a 948cc overhead valve engine derived from the Morris Minor and Austin A35. The cute looks soon led to it being known as the 'Frogeye' in the UK and 'Bugeye' in the US. Its nickname derived from the headlights prominently mounted on top of the bonnet and inboard of the front wings.Originally registered on 19th May 1960 and still bearing its original registration number of 855 PPE, this Austin Healey was manufactured on 21st April 1960 and was despatched to the supplying dealer, Wimbledon Motors Limited on 2nd May. The current vendor is a very knowledgeable enthusiast and he purchased this 'Frogeye' in 2019 and restored the car throughout the lockdown period. Floors have been replaced as have the spring hangers and sills on both sides. The engine is a 1098 unit and has previously had a rebuild with the cylinder head being gas flowed. The head was skimmed giving a compression ratio of 9.5:1. The vendor has carried out additional engine works, replacing the big-ends and also the cam followers, this engine also has a high-lift camshaft. An aluminium radiator has been fitted as have new brakes and tyres. The rear axle ratio is 3.55:1 and fuel is delivered via a Weber carburettor, the original carburettor is supplied with the car. The colour combination is the original according to the Heritage Certificate, the exterior being Nevada Beige and the interior is Cherry Red. Supplied with a V5C registration document and a good collection of invoices, together with two buff logbooks. With the upgrades and enhancements this Austin Healey benefits from it may not appeal to the purists, however if you wanted to buy a 'Frogeye' that has been thoroughly, yet sympathetically worked on and is ready to be enjoyed, then look no further. Often described as a car with a smile on its face, this is a car that is sure put a smile on the face of its new owner.
1960 Austin Mini Seven Transmission: manualMileage:52795The history of this revolutionary motorcar is well known and its impact socially, culturally and mechanically is well documented. The Swinging Sixties, The Beatles, Twiggy and the Mini are inexorably combined to represent an era that is remembered with great fondness by many people. Very few classic cars have seen such a meteoric rise in values as the Mini has over the past five years. The Mini holds an iconic place in British motor car history and in the hearts and minds of any driver, it is safe to say no other car can spark a conversation in the same way with many people having owned a Mini and likely to have a story or two to tell. On its introduction in August 1959 the Mini was marketed under the Austin and Morris names, as the Austin Seven and Morris Mini-Minor. The Austin Seven was renamed Austin Mini in January 1962 and Mini became a marque in its own right in 1969. The early Minis have become particularly sought after with 1959 and 1960 examples difficult to find in original condition. The supplied British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate shows this early Mini Seven to have been completed in the colour it still retains of Farina Grey. Supplied to the UK home market, its date of build and despatch was 4th May 1960, destined for Evans Motors Limited in Carmarthen, Wales. Supplied new with a heater, (essential in Wales), but with no other optional extras. The car retains its grey and blue leather cloth interior and presents well appearing very original throughout. Coming from part of a large private collection, the car is reported to run and drive very well and is now only for sale as part of a downsizing of the collection.Supplied with a V5C registration document and BMIHT certificate and with incredibly only two former keepers, this wonderful example is a rare find in such original condition, especially with such low ownership.
1991 Rover Mini JCW Recreation Transmission: manualMileage:8883The Mini had an impressive 41-year build run from 1959 until 2000. This car really deserves the title of motoring icon. Space saving front wheel drive design of the Mini influenced a generation of car makers. This was borne out in 1999 when the Mini was voted the second most influential car of the 20th century. The Mini Mk. I had three major UK updates; the Mk. II, the Clubman and the Mk. III. The Mini Cooper and Cooper 'S' were sportier versions that were successful as rally cars, winning the Monte Carlo Rally four times from 1964 through to 1967. Initially Minis were marketed under the Austin and Morris names, as the Austin Seven and Morris Mini Minor, until Mini became a marque in its own right in 1969.This immaculate 1992 example has benefitted from a complete photographic restoration. During the process it was decided to give the car the look of a Cooper S from an earlier era. The no expense spared work was completed over a four-year period has been done well and the paintwork is in good order with a red body and contrasting black roof. Fitted with three front driving lamps and one rear, leather bonnet straps and privacy glass, this Mini certainly looks the part and, we are informed, drives superbly. Not surprising as this Mini is also fitted with Paul Ivey racing steel valves, a Bret Sims fast road cam, a balanced crankshaft and duplex double timing chain, double silicone HT leads, an LCB three branch straight through exhaust, a quick shift gearbox and GMAX shock absorbers and suspension kit. The file for this car contains a V5C registration document, a full list of the works completed and various bills and receipts. The sale of this Mini includes the cherished registration plate. Fun to drive and reasonably priced.

* Prinsep (Valentine Cameron, 1838-1904). Portrait of the Artist's Sister, circa 1860, oil on canvas, half-length portrait of a young girl, profile turned to the right, seated in a buttoned yellow chair and looking down with pensive gaze, wearing a flowing black gown with white collar, a beaded necklace, a jewelled ring, and a pink camellia in her auburn hair, holding a feather fan in her right hand, seated against the backdrop of a partly open door and potted lily on a window ledge beyond, re-lined, 41 x 37 cm (16 1/8 x 14 5/8 ins), gilt moulded frame (56 x 49 cm), with printed exhibition label on verso QTY: (1)NOTE:Provenance: Given to David Clayton-Stamm on his 12th birthday in 1923; thence by descent.Exhibited: Val Prinsep RA (1838-1904): A Jubilee Painter, South London Art Gallery, 21 October-10 November 1977, catalogue number 3.A strikingly beautiful portrait of the artist's only sister, Alice Marie Prinsep (1844-1919). The siblings and their two brothers were the offspring of colonial government official and politician Henry Thoby Prinsep and his wife, Sarah Monckton Pattle, one of the celebrated Pattle sisters, of which there were seven. Of this exuberant band, one was the pioneer photographer Julia Margaret Cameron, and another the grandmother of Virginia Woolf and her sister Vanessa Bell. Beautiful and bohemian, Sarah settled with her husband at Little Holland House in Kensington, where they were visited by many of the prominent artistic and literary figures of the day, including Burne-Jones, Leighton, Millais, Rossetti, Dickens, Tennyson, and Thackeray. Val, as he was known, was born in Calcutta, India, but brought up in London. He was taught to draw and paint by George Frederic Watts who was such a close friend of the family that he became a permanent house guest: as Sarah said of the painter, "he came to stay three days, he stayed thirty years". In 1857 Val Prinsep assisted in the painting of the doomed mural at the Oxford Union, with fellow-students Rossetti, William Morris, Arthur Hughes, and John Roddam Spencer Stanhope, amongst others. Afterwards he studied in Paris with Whistler, Edward John Poynter, and George du Maurier, going on to visit Italy with Burne-Jones, where he befriended Robert Browning in the years 1859-60. Prinsep first exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1862, and it is likely around this time that this portrait of Alice was executed. The artist became an Associate of the Royal Academy in 1878, and a full Royal Academician in 1894. He was Professor of Painting at the Royal Academy from 1901 until his death.Art collector and bibliophile Maxwell David Eugene Clayton-Stamm was an authority on the work of William de Morgan and Pre-Raphaelite ceramics. He also facilitated the facsimile publication of the 1819 Blake-Varley sketchbook.
