The American Swedish Institute is hosting a virtual festival weekend, with online events to celebrate Midsommar on Saturday and Father’s Day on Sunday.

The Midsommar events run from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday and include music from Oskar Stenmark and Sofia Talvik, make-your-own midsommarkrans (midsummer crown) and sommarstuga (summer cabin), Midsommar bingo, summer recipes and family activities that are available for download. There are also “Nordic Know-How” Zoom sessions exploring Swedish music at noon and 2 p.m.

The institute is also debuting a new online photography exhibit, Swedish Dads by Johan Bavman. It’s a series of portraits of 45 dads who are among the relatively small percentage of Swedish men who choose to stay at home with their children for six months or longer. It’ll be online through Oct. 4 and will also be displayed on the institute’s fence.
