Bryan Cranston announced on Twitter that he'll play Zordon in the upcoming 'Power Rangers' film.

We didn't see it coming, though we maybe should have: Bryan Cranston will play a pivotal role in the upcoming Power Rangers reboot.

The actor, a six-time Emmy Award winner for Breaking Bad and Oscar-nominated for Trumbo, has announced that he'll be stepping into the role of Zordon, a floating face that helps guide the Power Rangers on their missions.

Cranston simultaneously dropped the news and some trivia on Twitter. Apparently, the Blue Ranger (aka Billy Cranston) was named after him.

The Power Rangers Instagram account confirmed the news.

The history between Cranston and the Power Rangers franchise goes back to 1993, when Cranston twice voiced a character in the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers TV series.

The Power Rangers reboot is set to arrive in theaters March 24, 2017, and also stars Elizabeth Banks.
