Antrim is the county town of County Antrim in Northern Ireland.  Antrim is a small town not frequently visited by tourists, yet it is one of the more historic towns in Northern Ireland with many interesting sights and buildings of historic note. The town is located on the banks of the Six Mile Water on the tranquil and scenic shores of Lough Neagh (the largest lake by area in the British Isles).

There are many buildings of historic note in the town, especially in and around High Street. The Old Courthouse sits at the end of the street, near the Barbican Gate, the old gateway to Antrim Castle.

Some of the best gardens in Ireland can be found in County Antrim and a great place to start is the Antrim Castle Garden and Clotworthy House. This 400-year-old gem has been returned to its former glory in Northern Ireland’s largest ever garden restoration project.

Pogue’s Entry historical cottage is a hidden gem the in historic corner of 18th century Antrim. The childhood home of Alexander Irvine, who became a missionary in New York’s Bowery and eventually pastor of the Church of the Ascension on Fifth Avenue, is preserved in its original state and brings the visitor back to the 19th century, to life for the simple Irish family.

The Six Mile Water Caravan Park lies on the tranquil and scenic shores of Lough Neagh. It is within easy walking distance of Antrim Town and is a perfect stop-over point for visitors to Antrim & wider Northern Ireland.
