On this SUPER day, how cool would it be to add one more Man of Steel? Very cool. Please welcome Brandon Routh to the Washington State Summer Con happening in Puyallup from June 21st through the 23rd. Brandon was cast as Clark Kent / Superman in the 2005 motion picture Superman Returns.

Brandon Routh soared into the media limelight when cast as “the Man of Steel” in director Bryan Singer’s highly anticipated revival of the original superhero film franchise “Superman Returns.” Singer cast Brandon because he represented the embodiment of “our collective memory of Superman,” and was impressed by Routh’s resemblance to the comic book icon with his “combination of vulnerability and confidence”, which Singer said reminded him of Christopher Reeve.

In 2010, Routh was seen in “Scott Pilgrim vs. The World,” a Universal film opposite Michael Cera and directed by Edgar Wright. He recurred on NBC’s “Chuck,” and was seen in “Unthinkable,” opposite starring Samuel L. Jackson. He was cast in Kevin Smith’s film, “Zach and Miri Make a Porno” with Seth Rogen and Elizabeth Banks, as well as “Life is Hot in Cracktown,” based on the novel by Buddy Giovinazzo, and the romantic comedy “Table for Three,” opposite Jennifer Morrison and Sophia Bush.

After joining the CW series “Arrow” in 2014 as DC Comics superhero Ray Palmer / The Atom, Brandon would bring his character into two other series in the Arrowverse shared universe: The Flash and then as a staring role in DC’s Legends of Tomorrow. Routh also reprised his role as Superman in the 2019 Arrowverse crossover event “Crisis on Infinite Earths”. His role on Legends of Tomorrow ended in 2020, making his final appearance as the character in The Flash in 2022.
