Description
A strongly scented variable herb, hybridises readily with other mints. Angular, smooth or hairy, much-branched stem on a creeping rootstock.
Wet meadows, shallow margins of streams, ditches and along rivers.
Flowers
The flowerhead is rounded, pinkish-purple, with 1 or 2 whorls beneath.
Leaves
Ovate leaf is egg-shaped, wider at base, Elliptic oval leaf. Egg-shaped to oval smooth or hairy, serrated with stalks, 2-6 cm.
Fruits Seeds
Nut: 1-4 small nuts that do not split open when ripe, enclosed within the calyx.
