Description
A tuberous perennial. A Neotinea maculata with unspotted leaves is called Neotinea maculata non maculata.
Garrigue and rocky places, mainly on calcareous soils.
Flowers
A dense, cylindrical spike of small flowers. The lip is very small, hardly noticeable, with 3 lobes and purple spots.
Leaves
Lanceolate leaf is lance-shaped: long and widest in the middle. Basal: long, wider in the middle, pointed, covered in purple spots.
