Description

A tuberous perennial having enlarged underground structures for storage of nutrients.

Flowers

A bee orchid with a velvety, blackish-brown lip, flattened, with recurved sides and a greenish tip. The speculum is bluish-violet without a border. The sepals are mostly pink with a green vein. The petals are deeper pink, linear to lance-shaped, just over half the length of the sepals. 2-8 flowers to a stalk.

Leaves

Lanceolate leaf is lance-shaped: long and widest in the middle. Basal leaves long, wider in the middle, pointed; stem leaves smaller.
