Sarah Carter Scores High In ‘Business Ethics’ As Comedy Rounds Out Cast

EXCLUSIVE: Sarah Carter has signed on as the female lead opposite Larenz Tate in Business Ethics, the indie dark comedy from Innis Lake Entertainment and Skylight Picture Works. Jessica Parker Kennedy, Laysla De Oliveira have also joined the cast, as has Gil Bellows, who starred in the original short film. Nick Wernham is directing the pic from his short, about a man who sets out to run a Ponzi scheme.

Kurtwood Smith, Lance Reddick & Angus Macfadyen have already joined the cast. The pic begins production next week in Toronto.

Carter, who stars on DirecTV’s drama Rogue, will play Veronica, the loyal but unsuspecting assistant to Zachery Cranston (Tate). Unaware of his financial schemes, she develops unrequited feelings for him. She recently wrapped five seasons on TNT’s Falling Skies is repped by Paradigm and Global Creative.

Bellows will play Edwin Murk, a wealthy but crooked investment manager, who also becomes Cranston’s surrogate father and mentor. He also is an executive producer on the pic after toplining the 2015 short. He’s next up in the upcoming Amazon series Patriot, which he also executive produces. He is repped by Don Buchwald & Associates, Luber Roklin and attorney Jeff Bernstein.

Kennedy, who recently wrapped Gemini with Zoe Kravitz and co-stars in the Starz series Black Sails, is repped by Gersh and Armada Partners. De Oliveira will play Cranston’s ex-wife Rosa. She’s repped by Gersh, Wright Entertainment and The Characters.

Sanzhar Sultan is producing. In addition to Bellows, Tate, Richard Wernham, Loudon Owen, Jai Khanna, and LaRon Tate are exec producing.
