The Traditional Commander’s Activity (<strong>TCA</strong>) <strong>Coordinator</strong> works in the Office of Defense Cooperation (ODC)<br />

which oversees the State Partnership Program (SPP) engagements as well as other activities. The <strong>TCA</strong><br />

<strong>Coordinator</strong> is appointed by the Senior Defense Official/Defense Attaché (SDO/DATT) and is assigned to<br />

SOUTHCOM. This vacancy announcement is intended to solicit applications from which a nominee may be<br />

referred to the SDO for consideration.<br />

1. Eligibility: Current officers in the MAARNG of the rank of 01 to 03 who meet the requirements and<br />

competencies listed below.<br />

2. Requirements: Members selected for T10 ADOS must meet the physical qualifications outlined in AR 40-501<br />

Fitness Standards dated May 2007. Member must have a valid periodic medical examination with DA Form 7349,<br />

in accordance with the standards of chapter 3. Nominee must score a minimum of 2/2 on the Interagency<br />

Language Roundtable Scale. Completed test is NOT required to apply.<br />

4. <strong>TCA</strong> <strong>Coordinator</strong> Job Description:<br />

1. Liaison between the MANG, SOUTHCOM and ODC.<br />

2. Determine program needs, develop engagement requirements and create engagement concepts that<br />

support the Country Coordination Plan.<br />

3. Coordinate travel and lodging for engagement participants as needed.<br />

4. Coordinate/secure funding through various sources.<br />

5. Coordinate support activities (translation, local transportation, etc.) for engagements.<br />

6. Ensure program and engagements comply with relevant policies, procedures, regulations, and laws.<br />

7. Ensure appropriate protocol measures are observed.<br />

8. Facilitate country/theater clearances, customs processing, embassy access, etc.<br />

9. Coordinate cultural events.<br />

10. Other duties as assigned.<br />

5. Special Instructions:<br />

1) This is an unaccompanied Long-Term TDY move to Paraguay, with assignment to SOUTHCOM.<br />

2) Estimated start date is 1 October 2012.<br />

3) The initial tour is for one year with an optional extension.<br />

4) Individuals that apply must NOT:<br />

a) Be within 6 months of mandatory removal or Expiration of Term of Service (ETS) on the report<br />

date of the tour.<br />

b) Be able to qualify for sanctuary pay (18 years Active Federal Service) as a result of the order.<br />

c) Be placed on orders that will qualify him or her for separation pay (6 or more years of Active<br />

Federal Service).<br />

d) Be a permanent technician or AGR Soldier.<br />

e) Exceed the 1095 Rule.
