Download MP3 songs from the internet on a PC and<br />

record them on a <strong>CD</strong>. This special "MP3-<strong>CD</strong>" can now<br />

be played on the <strong>Philips</strong> FW-M355 <strong>Mini</strong> <strong>System</strong>. One<br />

MP3-<strong>CD</strong> can carry up to 12 hours of music. As the <strong>CD</strong><br />

changer can be loaded <strong>with</strong> 3 <strong>CD</strong>'s, one can enjoy 36<br />

hours of uninterupted music listening!<br />

The FW-M355 is designed to playback MP3 audio<br />

recorded <strong>with</strong> a bit-rate (quality level) between 64kbps<br />

and 320kbps. The set will also handle variable bit-rate<br />

recordings.<br />

MP3 Audio<br />

MP3 Audio is an audio compression technique that<br />

significally reduces the size of an audio track (as recorded<br />

on a compact disc). MP3 has become a standard audio<br />

compression format used on the world wide web and<br />

enables music to be transferred quickly from one place<br />

to another. Everyone <strong>with</strong> a device (software program)<br />

that can decode MP3 music can enjoy MP3 Audio.<br />

MP3 Audio can be recorded in different quality levels.<br />

Common are quality levels between 64 kilobytes per<br />

second (low quality) and 320 kilobytes per second (high<br />

quality). For higher quality music, there is less audio<br />

compression and as such the total recording capacity on<br />

a disc or memory chip will be (5x) less.<br />
