Easy Penguin Cake Pops

Today I made these super cute penguin cake pops and they were so easy to make. This is the perfect kids cake pop idea for Christmas. I kept the design pretty simple so it great for little kids and big kids like me!

If you wanted, you could also use white and dark chocolate rather than candy melts. Chocolate is definitely cheaper than ordering candy melts online or travelling to a specific store.

I really love the way these turned out, they are almost too cute to eat!

Give these a go and let me know how it goes! I would love to see your photos on Instagram!

To make this for yourself you will need:

♡ 600g/21oz/6⅔ cups madeira cake

♡ 300g/11oz/1⅓ cups butter cream

♡ Wilton candy melts white http://amzn.to/2bjkMph

♡ Wilton candy melts black http://amzn.to/2i0C7Xq

♡ Orange fondant icing http://amzn.to/2i0Ts2f

♡ Vegetable oil

♡ Cake pop sticks http://amzn.to/2i0BRaZ

Method:

  1. Crumble madeira cake between your fingers until it resembles fine bread crumbs.
  2. Then add your buttercream and mix with either your hands or a wooden spoon until fully incorporated. To check if the consistency is ok, pinch the mixture between your fingers. If the mixture sticks together well, the mixture is done.
  3. Take a small amount and roll into a ball between your palms creating a small ridge towards the top. Once your done place these on a baking sheet and leave in the fridge for 20 minutes.
  4. Then melt a small handful of the candy melts, just enough to dip your sticks in. Dip the cake pop stick and gently push into the cake until you can start to feel the stick near the top. Once your done place them back in the fridge for another 20 minutes.
  5. Melt the rest of your white candy melts. Dip the cake pops into the candy melts until completely covered. Then tap the stick against the glass to remove the excess. Place the cake pops on a cake pop stand and leave to set at room temperature.
  6. Once your cake pops are dry, melt your black candy melts and dip in one half and use a skewer dipped in the candy melts to create a small point on the top.
  7. Then roll a couple of little balls of orange fondant, flatten and stick to the bottom on the cake pop. Roll another little ball and pinch one side to create a rounded triangle shape; stick this to the cake pop too for the nose.
  8. Lastly, use a skewer dipped in candy melts to dot on the eyes and your all done.
