Spikelets solitary, pedicelled (pedicel and/or stipe linear, typically <0.7 mm long, scabrous), oblong, laterally compressed, 1.5–2 mm long, consisting of 1 fertile floret without rachilla extension. Disarticulation occurs below glumes with a small part of the pedicel/stipe attached.
Glumes similar, oblong, 1.5–2 mm long, 1.3–1.8 the length of the adjacent fertile lemma, membranous, keeled, 1-veined, midvein scabrous, surface scabrous, margins ciliolate, apices obtuse or truncate, unlobed, awnless.
Floret: rachilla absent, callus blunt, typically glabrous.
Lemma oblong, 1–1.5 mm long, hyaline, without keel, 5-veined, apex truncate, erose, awnless.
Palea subequal to lemma, hyaline, 2-veined.
Caryopsis oblong, trigonous in cross-section, 0.9–1 mm long, dark brown, embryo <0.33 length of caryopsis, hilum linear, sometimes with dark dot at base.
