An area of Salford, Greater Manchester, Salford Quays makes for an interesting day trip. Originally part of the Manchester Docks that was once the third busiest port in Britain, this area is a result of a massive urban regeneration project that was taken up once the docks closed in 1982. In 1983, Salford City Council took ownership of re-developing the land and thus, giving rise to Salford Quays. Read less
