Seattle Irish Dance Company founder Carlye Cunniff teaches in-person Irish dance classes in the Columbia River Gorge. Just like our online classes, our in-person classes focus on fun, skill building, and developing a love and appreciation for the art of movement. Our kids classes are developmentally appropriate - encouraging kids to move safely, work hard, and show up for themselves and each other. Our adult classes focus on fun, fitness, and building an inclusive, rich community through movement.
Final Friday Ceili
Last Friday of the month /// 6 - 7:30 PM /// NK Studios in Bingen, WA
Join us in The Gorge for a fun community ceili, open to everyone 17 and over. Ceili is a form of Irish social dancing, typically done at parties and community events. We will spend the first 30 minutes learning the basic steps, then spend the rest of the evening doing group dances. This is a great introduction to Irish dance for adults. Bring a partner or come on your own, all our welcome!
Kids Irish Dance
Tuesdays /// 4:15 - 5:10 /// NK Studios in Bingen, WA /// Ages 6+
The perfect class for dancers to begin exploring the magic of Irish dance. Lessons emphasize creativity and instill a love of movement in young dancers. The focus is on building foundational dance skills like rhythm, body awareness, and simple choreography that dancers will use across dance styles in their future dance adventures. This class helps dancers build the technical foundation used in Irish dance, and emphasizes rhythm and musicality to upbeat traditional tunes.
All in-person Irish dance classes in Oregon are taught by SIDC founder and director, Carlye Cunniff. Carlye has been teaching dance and movement to people of all ages for over 15 years. These classes focus on creating a safe space for dancers to develop their skills, build community, and build a life-long love of dance and movement. Carlye lives in the beautiful Columbia River Gorge, and loves being able to bring Irish dance to the community here. Our classes serve students from Hood River, Bingen, White Salmon, The Dalles and Goldendale.
