Most of the time, I carry a small sketchbook with me. I often use several of them at the same
time, of different sizes, for different functions. In my A4 and A3 sketchbooks, I draw elaborate things,
like mind maps or some story board pages for my ongoing comics project.
✍️ I also use bulkier sketchbooks, with a low grammage, to practice my technic by doing repetitive
exercises… When it comes to smaller formats, they are practical because they fit in a pocket: I can
pull them out easily to sketch something, draw while in public transportation, take notes on the edge
or even make my shopping list – which is very useful!
�� In my gear of tools relative to my job, sketchbooks are a must-have for me. Also, the object itself
is cool. Here is a piece of advice I would give to anyone wanting to become an artist: you should have
a sketchbook!
For the Zendikar Rising set of Magic: The Gathering, I was invited to join a development team for a “concept push” in a special bunkerised room within the office of Wizards of the Coast. Then, I worked on an enormous fantastic creature, an Eldrazi named Kozilek capable of fraying the fabric of reality. This concept was thorny to interpret visually, and I eventually went for vertical slices.It is funny to think that the same concept was offered to me for the cover of my new monograph, titled MULTIVERSE! LET’S STAMP! The release
of my new monograph was the perfect opportunity to produce a new stamp,
this time based on the illustration I made for the Kickstarter
slipcase. (see the last news about FLOWER!). We have integrated this
stamp to the campaign page and to one of the rewards, as it will be my
pleasure to stamp and sign some copies of the monograph! Here is a
demonstration video showing what it will most likely look like.

Today, I’m introducing a new character I created for the cover of my upcoming monoraph : Flower 🌸
She
is a character from a personal universe (and story) that I have been
developing for years. Her name is a contraction of “follower” (becoming
obviously F_L_OWER) because she is focusing on her community on social
media quite too much, looking insatiably for mor elikes and comments.
And yes this is happening in a weird dreamy fantasy setting!
You will find her on the slipcase of my new monograph, as well as on some prints.
And
I’ve asked her for some tips about this KS campaign. Iwas a littl ebit
disappointed about here advices, just aksing to people to like and
share…But thanks Flower!
