Parentucellia viscosa

Parentucellia viscosa (L.) Caruel (syn.: Bartsia viscosa L.) (Medit., SW As., SW Eur., Macaronesia) – A rare but probably increasing, locally naturalized alien. Known since 1902 when Parentucellia viscosa was first recorded in Rijkevorsel. Since then Parentucellia viscosa was regularly recorded but its genuine, local naturalization probably is a fairly recent phenomenon. At present it is known from some localities in the Brussels area (e.g. Saintenoy-Simon 1996, Saintenoy-Simon 1998), from port areas in Antwerpen and Zeebrugge and from a few additional localities elsewhere in Flanders (see Hoste & al. 2015 for an up-to-date overview). In some of these places the species is present since several decades and with numerous individuals.
Parentucellia viscosa is a native species in the British Isles (Stace 2010) and northwestern France (Tison& de Foucault 2014), close to the Belgian frontiers.
