Begonia chitoensis

Species from Taiwan, my plant from Plant Delights Nursery. Under the right conditions the leaves can grow quite large; while not as flashy as some begonias, it's a handsome and tropical-looking plant and does well both outdoors in the ground and indoors as a houseplant. This species has proven fairly hardy, as long as the rhizome is deeply buried; one plant outdoors survived a low of 8 degrees with only a light mulch.
