In the dry season, as many as twenty different bee species have been seen on this plant. This plant is Justicia flava and it is a perennial herb. It also feeds pollinator butterflies. In some parts of Africa its leaves are used as a herbal medicine or are eaten as a vegetable. It may also be maintained as an ornamental for its bright yellow flowers that are present throughout the year.
