Philodendron acuminatissimum Engl.
SUMMARY
Stem scandent, internodes 4-5 cm long. Cataphylls long, persistent, decomposing as fibres, 15 cm long. LEAVES: Petioles rigid, terete or canaliculate on the upper surface towards the base, 45-55 cm long, 5-6 mm thick. Blade rigid, thinly coriaceous, hastate, posterior lobes oblong-linear obtuse, directed slightly upwards 18-20 cm long, 6 cm wide; Anterior lobe 26-30 cm long, 6-7 cm wide, linear, apex with a slender, very acute acumen, 3-4 cm long, barely 5 mm wide; Primary lateral veins arising from the upper side of the posterior rib 2-3, ca. 5 ascending from the midrib of the anterior lobe. INFLORESCENCE: Peduncle short, 23 cm long. Spathe tube ovoid, 4 cm long, 2 cm wide, spathe blade oblong-apiculate, 4-4.5 cm long. Spadix shortly stipitate, female zone pale yellow, cylindroid, ca. 3 cm long, 6-7 mm in diam.; male zone subclaviform, obtuse, a little longer than the female zone. Pistils ovoid, 1.5 - 1.8 mm long, with a moderately broad, discoid stigma, 5 - 6 locular, locules nearly basal multiovulate.
