SUMMARY
Hemiepiphyte; stem appresed-climbing, 2--3.1 cm diam., grayish green, semiglossy, with flaking epidermis; internodes longer than broad, 2--10 cm long; cataphylls 20--46 cm long, 2-ribbed, spongy, dark green short-lineate, marcescent and soon deciduous. LEAVES erect-spreading; petiole 45--47 cm long, 1.6--1.9 cm diam., obtusely flattened adaxially, obtusely ribbed medially near apex, slightly broader than thick, medium to dark green, finely dark green-lineate throughout, with dark green ring at apex; blade ovate-triangular, abruptly acuminate at apex, deeply lobed at base, 20--65 x 10--37 cm, broadest at middle with undulate margins, subcoriaceous, medium green and semiglossy above, slightly paler and weakly glossy below; anterior lobe 20--49 cm long; posterior lobes 7.5--22.5 x 7.5--19.5 cm, rounded to obtuse at apex, directed outward; sinus spathulate to hippocrepiform, 6--16 cm deep; midrib flat, slightly paler than surface and densely dark green short-lineate above, narrowly rounded and slightly paler than surface below; basal veins 6--8 pairs, 1--2 free to base, the rest coalesced for up to 8.5 cm; posterior rib naked to 3 cm; primary lateral veins 7--8 pairs, 3--5 cm apart, departing midrib at a 65--75º angle, decurrent at the midrib, straight out to ca.1 cm of margin, then curving abruptly upward, sunken obtusely above, convex and slightly paler than surface below; minor veins moderately distinct. INFLORESCENCES 1--2 per axil; peduncle 13--18 cm long, 11--13 mm diam., light to medium green; clearly demarcated from the spathe; spathe 16--22 cm long, dark pinkish to reddish outside, whitish inside; tube 3.6--4 cm long, 2.4--3.6 cm diam.; blade 8--11.5 cm long, 1.2--1.4 ? 1.7--2.4 cm diam.; spadix with the staminate portion 7.3 cm long, 1.1 cm diam.; fertile portion 5.7 cm long; sterile portion 1.6 cm long, 1.4 cm diam.; pistillate portion 6 cm long in front, 4 cm long in back, 1.7 cm diam. at midway, greenish white to cream, cylindrical. INFRUCTESCENCE pale green. JUVENILE plants differ in having stems with longer internodes leaf blades subcordate at base. PRE-ADULT plants with cylindrical, dark green, weakly glossy stems with epidermis becoming grayish; internodes 5 cm long, 1.4 cm diam., cataphylls ca. 15.5 cm long, unribbed, fleshy and deciduous; petiole cylindrical, spongy, finely and densely estriate; blade tinged purplish-violet below; midrib broadly convex above rounded below.
