Helensburgh, Scotland is a charming, culture-filled town with plenty to do (or not do). With really excellent local shopping, a handful of great restaurants (check out my post on it here), and ideal bed and breakfasts, it’s a prime location to base yourself out of to explore Loch Lomond and the Trossachs.

The town is a quiet haven if you need to get away and relax. Helensburgh is near Glasgow, recognized as a commuter town for the big city. It’s the place to start if you are interested in walking the John Muir Way, along with a few other foot trails. The Hill House is a historical home that is worth a look.

My favourite part of the little town is walking around its close-knit downtown. It's very scenic and along the water. You can often spot people finding treasure along the shore during low tide. If there was ever a place to do sunset watching in Scotland, it would be right here on the docs.

I personally would be interested in heading back for the annual highland games. For those taking the train, the town has a great rail network. If you’re ever in Scotland, check it out!
