SUMMARY
Colony comprising several short stems arising from a narrow hydrorhiza with strongly marked, box-shaped flexion joints.
Proximal stem region athecate with up to seven indistinct transverse joints followed by a V-shaped node and one or two nematothecae below the node. Thecate cauline internodes thereafter with a V-shaped proximal, and an indistinct transverse distal node followed by a shorter athecate internode.
Cauline hydrothecae proximal on internode, with one median nematotheca between hydrotheca and the V-shaped node, two lateral nematothecae beside the hydrotheca and usually one small nematotheca inserted between these above the adcauline hydrothecal wall but not reaching the hydro thecal margin. Athecate internode with one median nematotheca in proximal third.
Hydrocladium given off alternately on a short apophysis of the stem from behind the cauline hydrotheca. Hydrocladia bearing two or three hydrothecae, the first two internodes very short, athecate, nodes transverse, followed by alternate thecate and athecate internodes. Distal node of athecate internode oblique, ending beneath the median subhydrothecal nematotheca, distal node of thecate internode almost transverse, marked by a distinct constriction in the perisarc, lower wall of internode slightly inflated below the hydrotheca. Hydrotheca pitcher-shaped, base flat to somewhat rounded, inserted into internode, abcauline wall straight to slightly sinuous, longer than adcauline wall. Adcauline wall strongly convex proximally, followed by a deep inward inflexion and thickening of the perisarc behind the margin, the greatest width of the hydrotheca about one third the distance up from the base. Margin entire, oblique to internode, slightly everted, sinuous.
Median subhydrothecal nematotheca on thecate internode seated on a prominence of the internode, pedicel stout, standing free of the internode, distal abcauline wall of cup convex, wide in anterior view, adcauline wall excavated almost to base, a flange of perisarc connecting the abcauline wall to the internode. Twin lateral nematothecae seated beside the hydrotheca, each supported on a long pedicel, two-chambered, distal cup wide and shallow, just reaching hydrothecal margin, slightly excavated on the adcauline side, a suprahydrothecal nematotheca sometimes inserted beneath the hydrotheca between the twin laterals; if present, this nematotheca of the same shape but smaller than the median nematotheca. A single, proximal nematotheca on the athecate internode, of same shape and size as those on thecate internode, but more strongly adpressed to the internode.
Gonotheca on a short pedicel, folded around the lower stem, saccate, perisarc thin and wrinkled, a nematotheca similar to the laterals on lower body.
Colour: White.
