Descriptions

Morphology
Gregarious. Solitary. Pileus: 2–17 cm diam., convex to plane, with a central depression; surface dry, smooth to slightly scaly, cream to buff-orange, or paler; margin inrolled in young specimens, becoming lobed to undulate at maturity, bruising to orange-brown. Context: white, often discoloring yellowish when exposed or bruised. Hymenophore: dentate, decurrent, 2–7 mm long; pale or dull orange. Stipe: 3–1 cm long, sometimes slightly excentric, equal to enlarged at the base; surface dry, smooth, whitish or concolorous with the pileus, bruising orange-brown. Odor: mild. Taste: mild or peppery. Spore print: white. Spore: broadly ellipsoid to subglobose, smooth, hyaline.

IUCN Red List Assessment (2021): LC. There are no major global threats to this species. However, marginal populations are reported to decline, probably due to nitrogen deposition and impaired forest situations.
