Tale of the Tape for Tony Ferguson vs. Beneil Dariush

In the co-main event bout at lightweight for UFC 262, Tony Ferguson will fight Beneil Dariush Saturday night live from Houston, TX and available on ESPN+.

The 37-year-old Ferguson heads into Saturday’s bout with a professional fighting record of 26-4 and ranked fifth in the lightweight division. “El Cucuy” last fought in December at UFC 256, where he lost to one-half of UFC 262’s main event in Charles Oliveira by unanimous decision.

Ferguson has lost two-straight bouts, with his last win coming at UFC 238, defeating Donald Cerrone in June 2019 by TKO in Round 2. The fifth-ranked fighter lands 5.51 significant strikes per minute, with an accuracy of 44 percent. At the same time, the 5-foot-11 Ferguson absorbs 3.55 strikes per minute, while he defends against them at 63 percent.

Dariush enters the octagon with a professional fighting record of 20-4-1 and is ranked ninth at lightweight. He has won six-straight bouts, including his last fight in February at UFC Fight Night 184. Dariush defeated Diego Ferreira by split decision.

The 32-year-old has racked up 3.87 strikes landed per minute with 49 percent accuracy. But unlike Ferguson, he absorbs fewer strikes at 2.65 per minute, and defends against them at 59 percent. When it comes to grappling, the 5-foot-10 fighter has a 1.8 takedown average, with an accuracy of 33 percent. Dariush’s takedown defense is at 80 percent, while his submission average per 15 minutes is 1.1.
