Angelababy allegedly punished for watching Blackpink Lisa's striptease performance

Chinese news site Sohu reported Thursday that the actress was prohibited from posting and commenting on social media platform Weibo due to "violations of laws and platform regulations."

Internet users have also been unable to follow the actress’ account on Douyin, the Chinese version of TikTok, since Wednesday.

According to insiders, if reports about Angelababy’s appearance at Lisa’s show at the Crazy Horse Paris are true, this could be her punishment for allegedly violating the Chinese authorities’ regulations. Strip dance is classified as a "sexually related activity" in China, and entertainment industry workers are banned from organizing, attending, or promoting such activities, as ruled in the country’s laws.

She has not been seen in public since the news of her attendance at the cabaret broke weeks ago.

This is the biggest controversy Angelababy has ever gotten since being active in the entertainment industry, according to Chinese news site 163, as her and her management agency’s social media accounts had been bombarded with negative comments since reports of her alleged appearance at the cabaret.

Authorities have not publicly commented on the matter.

Jenny Zhang, another Chinese actress who reportedly attended Lisa’s performance, has been banned from posting on her social media accounts as well.

The Weibo account of Lisa has also been shut down, while photos featuring the singer have been removed from accounts on the same platform of fashions houses Bulgari and Celine, for which Lisa is acting as the global ambassador.

Born Yang Ying, Angelababy, 34, is an actress, businesswoman, investor, model, and singer. She started her career in the entertainment industry in 2007 and has become one of the top actresses in China. Her Weibo account has garnered over 105 million followers, making her one of the most-followed celebrities in China.

Born Lalisa Manoban in Thailand, Lisa, 26, made her debut with the South Korean girl group Blackpink in 2016. She launched a simultaneous solo career in 2021.

She performed for three nights at the Crazy Horse Paris on September 28-30. All of her shows were limited to people aged over 16 only, and guests were asked to not use their cellphones during the performances.

It is reported that the artist partially stripped throughout her shows.
