An integrated episode of Chicago Fire will lay the groundwork for another spin-off that focuses on the lives of those working in a Chicago hospital. Platt (The Big C, Fargo) will play Dr. Daniel Charles, the head of psychiatry. Platt joins the previously cast Yaya DaCosta, Laurie Holden and S. Epatha Merkerson in the project, which is being written by Chicago Fire creators Derek Haas and Michael Brandt, who will executive-produce with Matt Olmstead and Dick Wolf.
