Erect shrub or tree, 1.5-7 m high. Fl. orange-yellow, Sep to Dec or Jan. Sandy soils. In damp areas: along watercourses, swamps.
Scientific Description
Erect, shrub, spindly shrub (broom-like). Stems terete, hairy; pustules or glands absent. Leaves or phylloclades clearly present, simple, alternate, not continuous with stem, 50-105 mm long, 7-30 mm wide, hairy, with simple hairs, flat with flat margins; margins entire; tubercles absent; pustules or glands absent. Pedicel present, 4-4.5 mm long, hairy. Calyx 8-9 mm long, not accrescent, hairy, with simple hairs, ribless; pustules or glands absent. Corolla 11-14 mm long, multicoloured, mostly orange, with some red spots, streaks or blotches; claws present; standard 11-13 mm long, glabrous, not auriculate, wings 9-10 mm long, not auriculate, keel 9-10.5 mm long, not beaked, not auriculate, glabrous. Stamens ten; anthers 0.8-1 mm long, at two different levels (filaments alternately long and short), 8-10 mm long. Ovary; style 10-11.5 mm long, hairy or glandular towards the base, not bearded, terete. Flowers in January, September, October, November and December. Occurs in the South-West Botanical Province, in the Jarrah Forest, Warren, Esperance and Swan Coastal Plain IBRA regions.
