SUMMARY
Thallus placodioid to squamulose, very closely appressed, often very small, <1 cm to 2 cm diam., orbicular or irregular, often confluent and forming extensive patches. Lobes minute, 0.2-0.5 mm wide, ± radiating, markedly flattened, separate or sometimes marginally overlapping, green-grey when wet or brown-grey when dry, not or hardly pruinose. Soralia laminal, 0.15-0.3 mm diam., spot-like, sometimes confluent at the centre of the thallus, concolorous or paler. Photobiont trebouxioid.
Anamorph: conidiomata rarely seen; pycnidia, immersed, the walls hyaline except for a brown zone around the ostiole. Conidiogenous cells arising in branched chains, barrel-shaped to subcylindrical. Conidia 11-21 × ca 0.5 μm, filiform, hyaline.
Teleomorph: ascomata apothecia, rarely seen; laminal, sessile. Disc brown, not pruinose. Thalline exciple ± smooth. Epithecium pale brown. Hymenium hyaline, I+ blue. Interascal tissue of paraphyses, often branched above, the apices clavate, light brown with a thin, dark brown cap. Asci cylindric-clavate, Lecanora-type, 8-spored. Ascospores 13-19 × 7-9 μm, but often poorly formed; brown, 1-septate, thick-walled.
Chemistry: lichen products not detected by TLC.
