SUMMARY
Thallus smooth, pale grey to white, very thin, continuous and not well delimited, mostly immersed in the substratum, composed of hyaline to greenish-brown hyphae ca 3 µm diam. Photobiont Trentepohlia.
Anamorph: conidiomata pycnidia, 100-150 µm diam., numerous, scattered among the ascomata, ± globose, smooth, blackish, initially immersed in the bark, becoming superficial, ostiolate. Peridium composed of dark brown, thick-walled, isodiametric cells with enlarged lumina, 6-9 µm diam. Conidiogenous cells 10-12 x 1.5-2.5 µm, lageniform. proliferating percurrently, arising from isodiametric cells 2.3-3.5 µm diam, adjacent to the conidiomatal wall. Conidia (11. 5-) 16.5-18 x 1.5-2.5 µm, narrowly fusiform, arcuate, aseptate, hyaline.
Teleomorph: ascomata 130-150 (-200) µm diam. and 90-110 µm tall, superficial, hemispherical, applanate, with a centrally located ostiole, black, matt, smooth, scattered, with a small dark fringe remaining when the ascoma disappears. Involucrellum greenish-brown, 15-20 µm thick, sometimes extending beyond the ascoma to form a short fringe to 30 µm broad; composed of bark cells mixed with greenish-black, smooth, thick-walled, isodiametric cells ca 5 µm diam. with enlarged lumina. Peridium 10-20 µm thick, hyaline to pale brown, composed of thin-walled, flattened isodiametric cells. Interascal sparse, of pseudoparaphyses ca 2 µm diam, the hymenial gelatin bluish in iodine. Asci (35-) 40-55 x 10-15 µm, clavate, short and broad-stalked, fissitunicate, with a rounded to truncate apex, (6- to) 8-spored. Ascospores arranged in two fascicles, (20-) 25-32 x 2-3.5 µm, falcate, sometimes sigmoid, 1- to 3-septate, the apices acute to obtuse, hyaline, smooth, without an epispore, gelatinous sheath or appendages.
