SUMMARY
Anamorph: conidiomata sporodochia, 175-225 µm diam., superficial, developing from the upper cortex of the host, dark brown to black, hemispherical to subglobose, single or in clusters, often constricted basally; composed of thick-walled olivaceous brown cells 3-4.5 µm diam. in the central part, becoming elongate, thinner-walled and radially orientated, with granular encrustations on their walls and in between the hyphae. Conidiophores mainly short-cylindrical, irregularly sympodially branched, hyaline, thick-walled, septate, mainly 2-3 µm diam., arising over the whole surface of the sporodochium or restricted to patches on it (especially near the base). Conidiogenous cells 10-18 x (2-) 2.5-3.5 (-4) µm, arising terminally or sympodially on the conidiophores, hyaline, similar to the conidiophores, smooth, walls ca 1 µm thick. Conidia (17-) 23-29 x (4-) 6-8 (-8.5) µm, elongate-clavate, thickened towards the apex, the apical thickening usually one fifth to one quarter the length of the spore, abruptly truncated at the base where a fringe of tissue is sometimes persistent, aseptate at first but finally becoming 3- or 4- celled, cells often angular, distosepta developing between the cells, thick-walled, the wall to 5 µm thick at the apex and 1-2 µm laterally, hyaline, smooth.
Teleomorph: not known.
