Family: LecanoraceaeGenus: Myriolecis
SUMMARY
Thallus usually conspicuous, smooth, thin, oily-textured, grey.
Anamorph: not known.
Teleomorph: ascomata apothecia, 0.3-0.6 (-0.9) mm diam., emergent, becoming constricted at the base, often in small groups and then becoming angular by compression. Thalline exciple thin but initially well-developed, persistent or not, pale grey, smooth or crenulated, having spots of white pruina when young; discs generally red-brown, also yellow- or brown-black, pruinose or not. Epithecium in shades of brown, often interspersed with fine granules. In GB&I the epithecial granules are said to be N– and not dissolving in K; Śliwa (2007) states that the epithecium is indistinctly granular, granules superficial, coarse (insoluble in K and soluble in N). An epipsamma may also be present (insoluble in K and soluble in N). Hymenium 40-60 µm tall. Paraphyses simple, thick, slightly expanded or capitate, brown pigmented at tips. Ascospores 8-13 × (4-) 4.5-6 (-7) µm.
Chemistry: Thallus and apothecia C–, K–, KC–, Pd–, UV– (no lichen substances detected by TLC).
