Nomenclature

Family: PhaeosphaeriaceaeGenus: Neottiosporina
SUMMARY
Anamorph: conidiomata visible as grey discoloration of the host surface, 150-240 µm diam., in clusters of 4-7 locules within a common stromatic structure, hardly erumpent, releasing spores via an irregular slit in the covering host tissue, the ostiole(s) inconspicuous. Peridium black, composed of dark thick-walled angular to globose cells. Conidiophores absent, conidiogenous cells developing as a palisade from a layer of pale brown thin-walled angular cells to 8 µm diam. Conidiogenous cells 7-10 x 5-6 µm, shortly cylindrical to doliiform, apparently not proliferating. Conidia (24-) 30-34 x 8-9.5 µm, cylindric-ellipsoidal, 3-septate, constricted at the septa, the apex obtuse and the base ± truncate, hyaline, quite thin-walled, smooth, with adiscoid to funnel-shaped apical appendage to 8 µm diam. and 2 µm deep, apparently gelatinous and probably formed from a disintegrating sheath.
Teleomorph: not known.
