SUMMARY
Leaf spots to 5 (-12) mm in longest dimension, circular, angular or irregular, mostly scattered but sometimes coalescing, with an olivaceous to dark brown central area, surrounded by a distinct, thin to rather broad, reddish to black margin.
Anamorph: conidiomata pycnidia, immersed, separate, globose to cupulate, brown to black, 50-100 µm diam., up to ca 20 formed in each lesion, dehiscence circular to irregular, epigenous, occasionally hypogenous. Conidiophores very infrequent, unbranched. Conidiogenous cells 4-10 x 5-15 µm, cylindrical, ampulliform or lageniform, sympodial or sometimes annellidic, formed from the inner cells of the conidiomatal wall. Conidia (25-) 30-45 (-52) x 3-3.8 µm, cylindrical, slightly curved, the apex obtuse to rounded, the base rounded to truncate, 1- to 5- (to 7-) septate, the septa inconspicuous in unstained preparations, hyaline, without guttules, without a gelatinous sheath or appendages.
