SUMMARY
Anamorph: no information available.
Teleomorph: ascostromata developing in irregular dark grey to grey-brown patches 3-5 mm diam., from a subcuticular mycelial network composed of irregular entwined dark brown hyphae 2-3 µm diam.; perithecial, 80-110 µm diam., ± subglobose with a flattened base, black, the upper half erumpent through the plant cuticle, ostiolate. Peridium 10-15 µm thick, composed of 3-4 layers of irregular compressed cells 4-6 µm diam., in the upper half dark brown to black with heavily melanized walls, in the lower half pale brown with somewhat thinner walls. Interascal tissue not seen. Asci 25-29 x 11-13 µm, pyriform, ± sessile, thick-walled and fissitunicate with a distinct ocular chamber, 8-spored. Ascospores arranged biseriately or in a fascicle, 12-16 x 4-4.5 µm (14-19 x 3-5 µm fide Hawksworth et al. 2010), cylindric-ellipsoidal to narrowly clavate with rounded ends, not markedly constricted at the ± median septum, hyaline, sometimes pale brown when over-mature, thin-walled, smooth, without an epispore, gelatinous sheath or appendages.
