SUMMARY
Anamorph: not known.
Teleomorph: ascostromata perithecia, immersed in the surface layers of the host lichen, scattered, 40-70 µm diam. and 45-60 µm tall, subglobose with a flattened base, black, ostiolate. Peridium 10-15 µm thick, composed of 3-4 layers of ellipsoidal compressed cells mostly 4-7 µm diam., in the upper half of the wall dark brown to black with heavily sclerotized walls, in the lower half brown to pale brown or almost hyaline with somewhat thinner walls. Interascal tissue of sparse pseudoparaphyses, becoming gelatinized and indistinct in mature ascostromata. Asci 28-35 x 7-8 µm, cylindric-clavate, ± sessile, thick-walled and fissitunicate, with a distinct ocular chamber, 8-spored. Ascospores arranged biseriately, 9-12 x 2.5-3.5 (-4.5) µm, ellipsoidal with rounded ends, not markedly constricted at the ± median septum, the upper cell marginally broader, hyaline, thin- and smooth-walled, without a perispore, gelatinous sheath or appendages.
