Love your home made pots. What a wonderful collection.
Might I add a suggestion? Label all your plants in the picture for future reference and for us.
Some of mine and some I have no ID's for. They were seedlings from ebay.

This one was a extra one with one of the plants. It may be a weed or maybe a euphorbia seedling of some kind?

Wonderful plants, pots and pictures guys.

Here's a group of polygona hybrid seedlings that are going in the ground this winter (3 gallon pots).

Baja, Did you collect the seeds yourself? I have one and it bloomed and then rotted from all the rains we have been having. I empty the water out from under the pot but the gritty mix had too much organics in it. Next time I'll limit the organics to less than 1/8. It was a nice silver color.

Those came from seed from my own plant. There are separate male and female plants so I know it didn't self pollinate. There are a few paternity candidates. I'm guessing the first 3 have a different father from the last 2.

You may want to consider an unglazed clay pot in the future, Stush. That's where I keep the mother plant. A clay pot makes it much less likely for rot problems to occur, because the water can exit through the sides of the pot as well. I use a mix of about half rock for these plants.

Thanks Baja, I though it was loving the extra water. At first it rapidly grew an inch then flowered. I drained it daily for water build up. I moved the others back inside in dryer conditions. Caught me off guard. I should have collected the seeds. How stupid of me. I enjoy growing from seed as well. My sprials are all filled with seed now. I will collect them and see. It was right next to the rotted one.
Forgot to tell you, well done.

I agree Great plants! Some of them have gone onto my wish list. Here are a few of mine:

NoID I grew it from seed back in the 1980's
Thumb of 2016-08-11/DaisyI/a236d3
E. mammillaris variegata - also from seed in the 80's

Thumb of 2016-08-11/DaisyI/c036cd
Maybe also E. mammillaris

I should know the names but I think the plants ate the tags and I'm not willing to die for this project.

E. lactea - they were all grafted but I thought that they all contained enough chlorophyll to make it on their own. I cut the lactea heads off and freed their hosts to live they own lives. Six months in, so far, so good.

I was in the mood to "find" all of my stems of zigzag (E. tithymaloides) and realized there are way more than I could have remembered offhand. I love sticking this - anywhere. None have failed to take root, not picky about amount of light, and love the pop of wild variegation among other plants, especially pink & purple. All are variegated except one stem that has grown so much more slowly.

What kind of rock do you use to mix with your cactus/succulent soil? Also what size? Love your Polygona hybrids!

I use pumice, 0.1 to 0.25 inches. Which is pretty much the way it comes in the bag. Various other things should work fine if pumice is not available to you locally, like perlite or lava rock or grit. When in doubt (if product is not horticultural grade) wash it with a generous amount of water. If your product has a lot of fine particles in it, you can use window screen to remove the small stuff.

Stick around and you will be seeing more of the polygona hybrids, they've been installed in a row and have already proven their merit in a squirrel-rich environment. The squirrels take one bite and decide it's not for them. Smiling

Thanks Baja - pumice I can order but its about $20 for 2.5 dry quarts with free delivery from Amazon - is that a reasonable price? Otherwise I do have perlite and lava rock available. Smiling

Depends on what it's worth to you. Smiling I pay about $15 at the nursery for ten times that much... it sounds like shipping is included in the price they're charging you. It is rock, after all.

Crap happens, deal with it. Just can't figure how a heavy box could fall over with out wind or a storm. Surprisingly no great damage. Just a big mess to clean up.

Other much lighter items was not knocked over or other mishaps. Don't have any animals around (that I know of).

Took my E. buruana that got pot bound due to very swollen root system. Divided it up and planted one big root system above the ground and gave the others away. (need picture).

This one is really special, it was a gift from the late Bob Smoley. He didn't have any and sent me a cutting for free. They root pretty easily.
