About Alocasia Polly Plant
Alocasias, commonly known as Elephant Ears, are some of the most common houseplants although their leaves can reach enormous sizes when grown outdoors! š They typically only support a few leaves at a time (more, when they get more sun!) so don't be concerned if you see an old leaf begin to retire after a new one emerges. They grow out of underground corms which are similar to bulbs, so next time you repot keep an eye out for baby Alocasias! They contain calcium oxalate crystals so be sure to keep them out of reach if you have children or pets! ā ļø

I just got my alocasia Polly less than 2 weeks ago. She seems very unhappy with the change in her environment. 2 leaves wilted over completely & had to be pruned. Remaining leaves are curling around the edges. What will make her happier?

did I just murder my alocasia? my black velvet had one droopy leaf after being on vacation for a few days. Greggers suggested top watering it but that didnāt help. Others suggested it was lacking sunlight so i put him AND my alocasia polly out in my patio in direct sunlight for about 1.5 hours and now they look horrible!! Is there any salvaging them? š¢š¢š¢ #HappyPlants #AlocasiaAddicts #Alocasia #AlocasiaPolly #alocasiablackvelvet

Rust spots on alocasia polly leaves Hi Everyone! I noticed these rust colored spots on my alocasia while repotting today. Is this something I should be worried about? I do not see any pests on it. This is the 1st time I've tried growing an alocasia. Loving the Greg app-it has given me more confidence with indoor plants. Any help and guidance would be appreciated. #happyplants #plantsmakepeoplehappy #alocasiaaddicts #alocasia #plantaddict #planttherapy

New Growth! I know itās not Friday, but I was super excited today when I found something green poking out of the soil in my Alocasia Polly. I had already grabbed 1 corm out of the pot that was very close to the top of the soil, but looks like there must be more down in there, just growing happily! Edited to add: hoping this is an alocasia sprouting and not a rouge sunflower or something random!!! Any thoughts? š #AlocasiaAddicts #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #Alocasia #AlocasiaPolly #HappyPlants #hitchhikerplants #WhatPlantIsThis #identify

whatās my alocasia polly trying to tell me? we use a self watering pot that i only add water to about once per week. humidity is consistently around 40-65% and temp stays between 72-82 degrees. these are the only two leaves showing signs of distress. The rest look great. #AlocasiaAddicts #Alocasia #AlocasiaPolly #PlantsMakePeopleHappy

This spider is insisting on making a web in my Alocasia Polly. Im NOT a fan of spiders but almost feel I should let this happen if he thinks there is a food source nearby.

Alocasia Advice Needed Iām pretty sure I over watered Polly, because I watered at a weird time in the past week, probably before it was truly ready. All of a sudden I noticed some orange brown soft spots on a couple leaves. Two spots are where there were prior damage and were completely calloused over, and two spots are completely new. So I know I did something wrong. I took it out of its pot to get a look at the roots and they look good to me. What do you Alocasia experts think? #AlocasiaAddicts #Alocasia #AlocasiaPolly #AlocasiaAdvice #AlocasiaAddicts #help #helpneeded #advice

Several leaves on my Alocasia Polly lost their gloss and became dull. I watered it and every leaf lifted. The leaves that lost their shine, yellowed so I removed them. Any experience with this?
Care Summary for Alocasia Polly Plant
Alocasia Polly Plant
Greg recommends:
0.5 cups every 9 days
< 3ft from a window
Repot after 2x growth
Based on the 4ā pot your plant is in, and that it doesnāt get direct sunlight.
What other plant parents say
Unlike some other alocasias this one seems to be pretty drought resistant.
Leaves on my plant grow moderately slowly in my east facing window. My plant prefers to not have direct sunlight and tends to burn easily and mine tends to prefers high humidity and heat.
Would recommend getting a humidity meter and humidifier for these plants!
Mine tends to attract pests, and tends to require me to check on it frequently.
I wipe the leaves down 2x week, normally with neem oil! Iām my experience it helps maintain a pest free plant!
Ughhhhhhhhhhh I killed the first one I had but I think it was dying before I got it anyways my new one got spidermite that I got rid of quickly by just washing the plant. It hasnāt given me any new leaves which is sad. The amount it says to water here doesnāt seem like enough I though they like to be pretty moist I water mine at least once a week and itās not dying so I think thatās a good sign.
This plant has given me such a headache. I overwatered it the first day over a month and a half ago and I swear the soil still is not dry in a terra-cotta pot with drainage and perfectly aerated. I lost a ton of leaves and the surviving gives are thinning out. But all that said it looks like itās putting up a fight. I hope it pulls through. Because it was gorgeous when I got delivered.
