Harpenden is an English fair-trade commuter town situated in the picturesque county of Hertfordshire, with a population of just over 30,000. It has a quaint village vibe and a lovely local community and boasts several natural beauties including a 238-acre common, which hosts the Harpenden Cricket Club of 150 years.

Harpenden is very family-oriented. There is an abundance of state schools and private schools and it regularly hosts events in keeping with its village feel. These include ‘Screen On The Green’ - an outdoor cinema on the common, fun summer and Christmas carnivals, street food festivals, a monthly farmers’ market and the well renown ‘Classics on the Common’ in July.

Harpenden residents can catch a direct train to London St. Pancras International in less than half an hour, Gatwick Airport in just over an hour and Luton Airport Parkway is just six minutes away making it perfect for a travel escape.

“Harpenden is on the dip slope of the Chiltern Hills, lying astride three valleys which run in a NW to SE direction. The westerly one is the valley of the River Ver, the easterly the valley of the River Lea. Between the two is the dry valley which contains the central core of the village.  It is this valley which gives Harpenden its name. ‘Herpe dene’ means ‘the military path through the valley’.”
