In traditional medicine, Marrubium vulgare (Horehound) is used to treat bronchitis, coughs, and colds. It is also known for its properties to treat stomach diseases, lack of appetite, and fever.

The leaves and young flowering stems are antiseptic, antispasmodic, diuretic, strongly expectorant, and tonic. Horehound is used externally to promote the healing of wounds, as well as antifungal ingredients.

Marrubium Vulgare extract protects the skin from allergic reactions induced by UV radiation. Through its anti-histaminic properties, this ingredient is especially suitable for all types of soothing formulations, mainly targeted to sensitive skin.

Marrubium Vulgare extract leaves anti-histaminic, anti-inflammatory, wound healing, antifungal, and antimicrobial effects in skin care applications and is usually used in 1-3 % concentrations. It is suitable for all types of formulations for sensitive skin. It is used in protective daycare products (especially for irritated and stressed skin), recovery treatments, wellness and anti-stress care formulations, and after-sun products.
